Radon Gas Testing

The Silent Health Risk in Your Basement

Radon is a radioactive gas that is the #1 cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. It is colorless and odorless. The only way to know if your home is safe is to test.

Why Test?

  • Local Risk: Areas of York Region & Simcoe County have high uranium soil content.
  • New Homes: Modern airtight homes can trap radon gas inside.
  • Peace of Mind: Ensure your basement is safe for your family.

How It Works

We place a small, non-intrusive measurement device in the lowest livable area of your home (usually the basement). After the test period, we provide a detailed report on gas levels.

What is radon gas and why is it dangerous?

Radon is a naturally occurring, invisible, and odorless radioactive gas emitted from the soil. When it becomes trapped in basements and poorly ventilated homes, it becomes the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in Canada.

How is radon testing performed in a home?

We deploy highly sensitive, calibrated continuous radon monitors in the lowest livable level of the property. These machines track hourly fluctuations in radon levels alongside barometric pressure and temperature to ensure accurate data.

Is radon gas a problem in York Region and Simcoe County?

Yes. Southern and Central Ontario have dense pockets of uranium-rich soil that actively emit radon. Health Canada warns that no area is truly radon-free, and testing is the only way to know if your specific home is at risk.

What happens if my radon levels are too high?

If testing reveals levels above Health Canada's action guideline (200 Bq/m³), the issue is entirely fixable. A certified mitigation contractor can install a sub-slab depressurization system to safely vent the gas outside, usually in a single day.

Comprehensive Toxicity & Air Quality Services

Secure your family's health with a multi-tiered approach to indoor safety. We identify invisible and biological threats in homes across York Region & Simcoe County.

  • Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Testing Expand your environmental testing to include volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehydes, and hazardous airborne particulates.
  • Mold & Microbial Testing Ensure your basement is not only free of radioactive radon gas, but also clear of toxic fungal growth and hidden structural rot.
  • Well Water Quality Analysis For rural properties, verify that your drinking water supply is just as safe and contaminant-free as the air you breathe.
  • Thermal Energy Auditing Detect the drafts and compromised foundation seals where dangerous soil gases and outside air are actively penetrating your home.
  • Comprehensive Home Inspections A thorough top-to-bottom structural assessment to ensure the property is a safe, structurally sound environment for your family.
